Anthony Weiner, Eliot Spitzer, Democrats and Harlem churches

Anthony Weiner, Eliot Spitzer, Democrats and Harlem churches.

Today my pruning hook rest not on Christine Quinn or Joe Llhota, but on the Democratic party, Harlem church leaders, Anthony Weiner and Eliot Spitzer. Reason is, we are supposed to be in a forgiving mood and the democrats as a group are behaving as if endowed with an absolute power – they have the means to select who to forgive and who to keep punishing – even to the point of loss of life and limb.

On one hand, the party think Anthony Weiner and Eliot Spitzer are golden calves – main aims were to distract. And they allowed them. Whilst on the other hand, they ask who exactly is to be fitted for a modern day Nebuchadnezzar? Could it be the party, the Harlem churches or these golden calves?

In my book you’re all fitted for the role. Why? Because you all took your eyes off the dream. You woke up one morning thinking, “is just another dream” and walked away from it. Guess what! the dream never left you. It is as much edged in your psyche as it is in the Harlem church leaders’ and your dearest golden calves.

The only difference is while the golden calves are trying to get good at their choice of dreams – one engaged in a technologically enhanced sport, the other transporting women across state lines, the party got comfortable with getting votes, taking people for granted and giving nothing back in return. As for the churches, they still believe in saving elderly souls and condemning young others to eternal damnation.

When they should have use their clout to ask for the goodwill and the spirit of forgiveness that was extended to Anthony Weiner and Eliot Spitzer, be extended to those rebelliously saggy-panted youth rotting out in jail for similar or less transgressions. But then lets not forget Jack Johnson has never been pardoned for transporting his wife across state line so why should they pull their finger nails out for those 18year olds who “made a wrong choice and took the wrong turn” as the Harlem church leaders are known to say.

C’mon, the Good Samaritan stopped, got off his vantage point and stooped to help. All the while, he never lost his focus – better to get there together as a group than go it alone was his watchword.

You’ve been collecting votes and signatures from their parents, grand parents and even their great great. Now they need you and you’re dithering, pushing them back into a fate worse than slavery days. They can barely read, they can barely write their names and if you analyse the content of the food they eat in this millennium, you’ll see is not too different from corn and pork belly of slavery days.

So, if Harlem church leaders can’t speak for them and the democratic system keeps locking them up, whilst other communities polish up theirs and put them forward as brand new, then how do I expect you all to stand up for million strong Mexicans slaving their hearts out all over the city.

One more reason I am in this race. And I promise as Mayor, I will step in where Harlem elders fail. If double jeopardy and the fifth amendment is not enough to set this poor souls on the way to being good citizens again, then I will revive 1807 slavery act and get everyone measured up.
