Dear Donor,
Re: Smithie for Mayor, city of New York, 2013.

Every four years, the people of New York get given a chance to select a Mayor from a pool of campaigners. And whoever get elected have a responsibility to move the city forward.

Now, the difference lies not so much in the election – since it is a ritual and a must, but in the overwhelming consequences of electing a non-party affiliated candidate who upon assumption of power will give proper attention to matters of local importance like security, transportation, tax, housing, education, health care and the city’s legal system.

If elected Mayor, my preferred method will be practical, pragmatic and organic when necessary. Meaning, i will adopt a transitional mode – one that is not dangerous to tradition, to change and to fashionable trends.

As an independent candidate, I will run the city like a heritage manager, not as a politician.

The duty of care is my campaign signature. With this, I plan to touch on issues of security. Improve public transport and housing services by investing in the environment we work in.

Regardless of race, gender or sexual orientation, I will work to improve on the quality of community we live in, raise our kids whilst preparing them, their parents and their guardians for the challenges of now and those of the future.

Illegal firearms and illegal drugs will have no place on our streets. And the care of our retirees, our weak and our poor will not be left out of this pool.

The legal system will be updated to accommodate new laws, especially those that dealt with intellectual property, research and development in the age of Internet and the world wide web.

Immigrants in our midst, an inevitable part of our life in the city – enormous income for business and the city if given a taxable life line.

My name is Abbey Laurel-Smith, I am an artist, a script writer, a heritage manager, and above all a New Yorker with no affiliation to any political party or swing group.

As much as I am excited at the possibility of serving the people of New York, I also realize that my opponents have deep pockets and are quite set in their political careers. A competition with them leaves me with no option than to conduct a very aggressive campaign.

This is why I need your help of a gift – a campaign donation or a seed money to launch out of the starting block.

Your donation to my campaign committee “friends of Smithies Newyork” will help set up an operating base and make stationaries, create campaign signs and advertise in local newspapers, print postcards, pledge cards, buttons and magnets, maintain an unrivaled online and media presence.

It will also help create job opportunities and provide invaluable learning experience to students and future leaders of the community.

Please help donate to sponsor this campaign.

I thank you in advance for your generous support and your commitment to this great city of ours.

Sincerely yours,

Abiodun “Abbey” Laurel-Smith (Smithie for Mayor 2013)
This is a PUBLIC MATCHED FUNDING campaign. Your donation (no matter how small) is crucial to this candidate
