City Hall, New York City

NYC City Council officials

Dear Elected officials,

Three weeks ago, whilst standing under George Washington’s statue, I said, “the social economic welfare of every single New Yorker is, and will always be very very dear to me.” Fact is, this is not the first time I have affirmatively taken this stance.

  • I did this in 2010 by calling for a Police reform and a asked for special airborne internet providing  ballon to be flown over the city so kids and students from low income homes  could access online facilities needed for their homework.
  • In 2013, I called for a provincial city ID to be issued to all immigrants and if possible a permit  that allows them to drive on non federal city roads.
  • 2017 and 2019, I called for universal healthcare, universal health insurance, paternity and maternity breaks, plus bringing in gig-side trades and their huge influx of cash transactions into the mainstream.
  • Now, 2021, I am running for mayor again, and have gone back to what I once touched up on in 2013, when I called to bring civic studies back into schools, and if possible develop a new teaching doctrine and approach to our educational system in high schools.

This is not only because it will help instill social civic responsibilities in our young, and help police relations, but because many Asian/Pacific Islander students in our charter schools for example, have developed a fear of going to use their charter school’s public restrooms without being escorted by trusted buddies.

Rather than say, these bullying in schools has now turn into full blown hate directed towards Asian/Pacific islanders in New York City, I’d say please fund my campaign for my ideas and policies, help my young political party for immigrants get on the ballot and we’ll not only stop this Asian hate, we’ll ReBuildNewYorkCity as we go.

Thanks for the good job.

My regards,

Abbey Laurel-Smith (SmithieForMayor NYC 2021)
